Wolverines add Associate Coach for 2021-2022 season

The Whitecourt Wolverines are excited to announce the hiring of Travis Clayton as our new Associate Coach for the 2021-2022 season.

“We are excited to be adding Travis to our staff, he has a great hockey background as a coach and player.”  stated Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin.

HC/GM Shawn Martin adds “I believe he will bring some intangibles to the hockey team that will be very valuable.”

Clayton brings almost a decade of coaching experience that followed a 14-year professional playing experience in what is now known as the East Coast Hockey League and the IHL (International Hockey League) in the USA.

He joins us after serving as the Associate Technical Director of the Sherwood Park Kings Athletics Club since 2019 where he also served as the U18AAA Head Coach. Prior to his time at SPKAC, Clayton was the Head Coach of the Lloydminster Bobcats (AJHL) from 2016-2018. Prior to that, he coached in the Lloydminster Elite Division for three seasons, winning provincial titles at the AAA level in U15 and U18.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to join the Whitecourt Wolverines and work with Shawn Martin,” stated Clayton.

“Whitecourt has a great reputation and a strong history of producing winning teams and developing players for their post-Junior hockey career. I look forward to helping them continue to do so.”

Clayton is joined by his wife of 16 years, Toby, and their two sons.
