Centre of Excellence Established in Whitecourt

The Whitecourt Wolverines have made a commitment to their players and fans with the establishment of the Whitecourt Wolverines Centre of Excellence in downtown Whitecourt.

The Centre of Excellence is an 8,500 square foot building that will house a state of the art strength and conditioning area, turf running lanes, video analysis room, scholastic study area, players’ lounge and will house the Wolverines team bus. The facility will also feature the team’s administrative offices. Merchandise will continue to be sold exclusively at Home Hardware in Whitecourt and at all Wolverines home games. The Centre of Excellence is set to open prior to the start of the 2013-14 AJHL season.

“This facility will provide opportunities for our players and future prospects to maintain and reach their goals in hockey and in education. It will also give our local prospects an elite training facility equal or better than those anywhere. We feel this centre will help elevate our program and our town as the top choice to play for junior hockey players,” said Wolverines Owner/President Brent Stark.

“As a coach, this speaks highly of our commitment to our off-ice program and the development of our players. We are very fortunate to have a facility of this calibre that will help accelerate the growth of our program and enable our players to realize their full potential,” said Wolverines General Manager/Head Coach Joey Bouchard.

“The Whitecourt Wolverines Centre of Excellence will be one of the finest hockey training centres in Canada. This new facility will speak volumes about the Wolverines commitment to their players’ long term development,” said Wolverines Director of Athletic Performance Dan Lajoie.

“The Whitecourt Wolverines have quickly shown that they are among the elite Junior A hockey programs in Canada and this facility will allow the team to attract and recruit top athletes from throughout North America. Our players will be able to develop their athletic abilities to peak performance and will prepare them for the next levels of hockey,” said Wolverines Director of Player Personnel/Head Scout Brad Morgan.
