Cassidy Bowes Commits to UConn Huskies

Whitecourt- Assistant captain Cassidy Bowes has committed to attend the University of Connecticut to play for the Huskies. Currently, the Uconn Huskies play in the powerhouse Hockey East Conference where they are tied for fourth. The Sturgeon County, Ab native, has had a strong first year with the Wolverines since being acquired from the Penticton Vees in the offseason. He has compiled 43 points in 42 games and is leading the team in goals with 22 even though he lost a month due to injury. Cassidy will be joining a storied program at UConn coached by veteran Mike Cavanaugh.

?We knew coming into this year we had some talent, but a lot of that talent wasn?t exactly proven yet, so it was important to find a player like Cass to be a catalyst for us early until the group could figure it out? stated Head Coach Shawn Martin. ?Most nights he has been our most dangerous player and he has worked hard for this opportunity.?

Cassidy had this to say about his commitment. ?I would like to thank my family for supporting me through this process.? ?I would also like to thank the Whitecourt Wolverines Organization, my billet parents, coaches and teammates for providing me with the resources to play at the next level.?

On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Cassidy and his family on this achievement and thank him for his service in Whitecourt. Questions can be directed to Shawn Martin Head Coach/Gm at 780.893.0535
