Wolverines weather the Storm in Grande Prairie

Grande Prairie, AB- Whitecourt Wolverines faced off against the Grande Prairie Storm in a single roadtrip game, Tuesday, September 25th at Revolution Place. The goaltender match-up for the game would be Whitecourt Wolverines Tye Morin (.891) and the Storm's 2001 born Kaeden Freer-Lane (.905).

The Storm's Zachary Okabe was penalized with a 10 minute Pre-Game violation misconduct and that was the only penalty in the first twenty minutes. Wolverines and Storm exchanged chances in the first period but 20 minutes would expire and the game remained scoreless with Whitecourt leading the shots 10-8.

Whitecourt Wolverines would open the scoring in the second period at 12:26 with a goal from Charles-Olivier Ouimet. Tommy Cardinal and Mackenzie Harden would get the assists on the opening goal. The second period would end with Whitecourt having the 1-0 lead over the Storm and the shot clock even at 17. 

Tommy Cardinal would double the Wolverines lead to two at 15:37 with an assist from Ryan Grant. The Storm's Nathan Morgan answered back quickly with his first AJHL goal, cutting the lead in half at 14:54 with Jonathan Hader getting the helper. With a minute left the Storm would pull their goaltender but couldn't find a way past Morin. With two seconds left in the third period, Charles-Olivier Ouimet would get his second of the night on the empty net to make the score 3-1 for the Wolverines.

Tonight's VITERRA STARS OF THE GAME are for the Grande Prairie Storm, Nathan Morgan and the Whitecourt Wolverines, Charles-Olivier Ouimet. The Whitecourt Wolverines aquired Ouimet in August from Montreal-est in exchange for future considerations. The 1998 born forward is from Blainville, Quebec. Ouimet has five points in his first five games.
