Whitecourt Wolverines 2019-2020 Leadership Group

Whitecourt, AB ? The Whitecourt Wolverines 2019/2020 leadership group was announced at the opening ceremonies of home opener September 13, 2019.

Adam Sandstrom will continue his role into the 2019/2020 season as the tenth captain in team history. The Whitecourt Wolverines acquired 1999-born Sandstrom in November of 2018. From Red Deer, Alberta, the 6’3″ defenseman is in his third season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Sandstrom appeared in 31 games last season for the Wolverines tallying 12 points for a combined total on the season of 23 points.

Joining the team’s leadership core, alongside Sandstrom, are alternate captains Brayden Labant, Cassidy Bowes, Kaleb Ergang and Josh Corrow.


Labant is in his fourth year in the Alberta Junior Hockey league and his third season as a Whitecourt Wolverine. The 6’1″ forward is from St. Paul, Alberta. Last season Labant appeared in 59 regular season games displaying his tremendous consistency and reliability. During the 2018/2019 season, he would register 36 points an earn himself both most valuable player and top scorer in team awards.

 

Cassidy Bowes joined the Whitecourt Wolverines during the summer of 2019 on a three-team trade. Bowes spent the last two seasons playing for the Penticton Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). During his time with the Vees, Bowes compiled 57 points, in 95 games. The 6′ forward is from Sturgeon County, Alberta and is a University of Michigan NCAA commit.

 

Kaleb Ergang joined the Whitecourt Wolverines in June of 2019 from the Okotoks Oilers in completion of a December 2018 trade. Ergang is from Spruce Grove, Alberta and is entering his third season in the AJHL. During his two seasons with the Oilers, Kaleb played 98 games for a combined total of 53 points. Throughout the 2018/2019 playoffs, Kaleb had 11 points in 14 games. Kaleb was chosen to join Team AJHL for the 2019 Junior Club World Cup in Sochi, Russia. The AJHL roster was composed of 22 returning AJHL players, which completed in an eight-team international tournament from August 23rd ? 31st, 2019. Ergang and Team AJHL won the silver medal at the tournament.

 

Josh Corrow is in his second season in the AJHL and with the Whitecourt Wolverines. From New Port Richey, FL, USA, Josh played in North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL 18U) before coming to the Wolverines. In his rookie season of 2018/2019, Corrow played in 55 games and compiled 12 points. Corrow shared the team award for rookie of the year last season.
