Captain Colby Browne has committed to attend the University of Northern Michigan to play for the Wildcats. The Evergreen, CO, native has played the last two seasons with the Wolverines leading the team in points this past season.
Even more impressive than Colby’s 103 points in 98 games is his production in the playoffs where he compiled 16 goals in 25 playoff games making him the post-season all-time franchise goal leader. He is the most decorated American born player in Whitecourt Wolverines history. Colby will be now playing under long time NCAA Division 1 coach Dave Shyiak and playing in the strong CCHA conference.
“We cannot say enough of what Colby has meant to our program the past couple seasons, even though he had opportunities to leave us he stayed loyal to the Wolverines and his goal of attaining a D-1 scholarship has been reached” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin. “Colby has worked extremely hard for this, and it has shown in his development over the past two years.”
Colby had this to say about his commitment. “I am excited and honored to announce my commitment to play Division 1 hockey at Northern Michigan University. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches and all those who have helped me along the way. Lets go Wildcats!”
On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Colby and his family on this achievement and thank him for his service in Whitecourt.
Colby is the 9th Post secondary commitment the Wolverines have had this season along with:
