Wolverines Shutout Drayton Valley

The Whitecourt Wolverines put in a solid team effort and recorded their first shutout of the year by defeating the Drayton Valley Thunder 2-0 on Tuesday night. Mac Engel was unbeatable in goal for Whitecourt, stopping all of the 33 shots he faced.

 

There was no scoring in the first period and Matthew Abt opened the scoring for Whitecourt with his power play goal at 16:13 of the second period from Brandon Switzer and Ryan Berlin. Evan Warmington scored seconds later at 16:40 from Joel Herbert and Jordan Davies to stake Whitecourt to a 2-0 lead. There was no scoring in the third period and Whitecourt came away with a 2-0 victory.

 

Next action for Whitecourt comes on the road in Fort McMurray this weekend with games Friday and Saturday at the Casman Centre. Both games start at 8:00 pm.
