Wolverines Deal For Two Forwards

Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines have acquired 1999-born forward Brayden Labant from the Melville Millionaires (SJHL) in exchange for 1999-born forward Aidan Steinke and future considerations.

The 6’1 forward is a native of St. Paul, Alberta and is entering his second season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Last season he split time between the Camrose Kodiaks and Spruce Grove Saints playing in 33 regular season games, scoring three goals and adding one assist.  In seven playoff games last year he picked up two assists.

Labant is a product of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers AAA midget program.  In the 2015/2016 season he scored 13 goals and 14 assists in 34 games with the Rangers.

The Wolverines have also acquired 1999-born forward Joshua Dobberthien from the Calgary Canucks.

The Calgary, Alberta product spent last season playing with the midget-AAA Calgary Buffaloes where he finished second in team scoring and 15th in the entire AMHL with 12 goals and 20 assists in 34 games.

Dobberthien also suited up in a pair of AJHL games last season as an affiliate with the Drumheller Dragons.

This trade partially completes the future considerations owed to the Wolverines for the trade last month involving goaltender Pierce Diamond.
