For the 1st time in franchise history the Whitecourt Wolverines will finish as the 1st place team in the AJHL. So far this season the Wolverines have a record of 31-17-5 with 4 games remaining on the regular season schedule.
Since joining the AJHL in the 2012-13 season the Wolverines have finished with a 30 win season now 7 times but had never finished the year in higher than 3rd place.
Wolverines HC/GM Shawn Martin had this to say about the Wolverines season
“This team has shown a lot of resiliency and and the ability to rally around one another. The group as a whole has had many individuals step up over the course of the season.”
With 1st place wrapped up the Wolverines will have home ice advantage throughout the AJHL playoffs. Round 1, after the play-in series starts March 15th and Whitecourt will host the lowest remaining seed.
The Wolverines are 19-5-5 at home this season and 18-0-4 at home since Nov 1st. Our last home game before playoffs is February 28th vs the Grande Prairie Storm.
