The Whitecourt Wolverines are pleased to announce that 2001-born defenceman Ben Wood has signed a Letter of Intent with the hockey club. The Ardrossan, Alberta native played the last two seasons with the Sherwood Park AAA Kings and came very highly regarded as a puck-moving defenceman. Last season he accumulated 27 points in 34 games which led his team in defence scoring. As an affiliate player with the Wolverines last season he played nine times including three playoff games where he recorded two assists.
Head Coach Shawn Martin had this to say “Ben has been a guy that we have liked for a couple of years and we are overjoyed that he chose Whitecourt to play his junior hockey. He really fits into the style of play that we want to transition to moving forward”.
Ben had this to say about joining the Wolverines “The guys on the team this year were very welcoming; I felt at home and wanted to play in a smaller center. This team has a winning culture, and I can’t wait to get started”.
The Wolverines organization want to welcome Ben and his family to the Wolverines program and wish him the most success in his future development.
Any questions can be directed to Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin.
