20-year-old goalie William Grimard (01) has received a scholarship to attend the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières who play in the OUA Conference.
After playing 3 years in the QMJHL William joined the Wolverines prior to the 2021-22 season.
His current stats for this season are a 3.02 GAA to go along with a 8.81 GSAA and a .908 SV%. Both his GSAA and Save % are within the top 10 in Alberta Junior Hockey League for Goaltenders.
The Patriots are 4-time University National Champions and are consistently one of the top University Programs within the Country.
“William has been a great teammate and gives us half of a very strong 1-2 punch in net.” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin.
“He came to Whitecourt to give himself an opportunity to play U-sports hockey next season and he has accomplished that, we wish him the best of luck next season.” added Shawn
William had this to say about his commitment. “Firstly, I want to thank all my teammates, the coaching staff and the Wolverines organization who all have helped me this season perform at my best, I will always be grateful for that.”
Grimard adds “I am extremely proud to join UQTR for next season, they have one of the best hockey programs in the country. My excitement is added up by a return to my roots since i played both my midget years in Trois-Rivières.”
