Dragons Down Wolverines

The Drumheller Dragons picked up a big win on the road when they defeated the Whitecourt Wolverines 5-3 Friday night at the Scott Safety Centre. Drumheller outshot Whitecourt 36-28 and notched two of their goals on the power play. Trent Ouelette and Christopher Rauckman both picked up two goals for the Dragons.

 

Whitecourt opened the scoring when Jacob Schofield scored at 8:19 of the first period from Brodyn Nielsen and Jordan Davies.

 

Drumheller scored the only goals of the second period with Trent Ouelette and Hunter Mills notching the goals to put the Dragons up 2-1 after two periods.

 

Mitch Owsley tied the score when he scored at 6:13 of the third period from Clay Spencer and Colten Mayor put Whitecourt up 3-2 with his goal on the power play at 11:02 from Ryan Berlin. It was all Drumheller after that as they scored seconds later to knot the score at three and with a late power play goal and empty netter, the Dragons walked away with a 5-3 victory. Tanner Kovacs stopped 32 of 36 shots on goal to absorb the loss for the Wolverines.

 

The Wolverines are next in action when they host the Camrose Kodiaks on Saturday in a 7:00 pm start at the Scott Safety Centre.
