Wolverines defenceman, Xavier Lacoste (05), has been invited to selection camp for Team Canada West.
Camp begins December 30th from Calgary with the top 30 players invited from Western Canada gathered to participate in practices and intersquad games to narrow down the roster. Canada West will be defending its gold medal from last year and has medaled in 11 of 16 years at the tournament, including 6 golds.
Xavier, who was named October’s player of the month for the Wolverines, is having a breakout currently leading all AJHL defenceman in points with 20 (2-18-20).
Wolverines Associate Coach Bryson Traptow had this to say “Xavier came in this season and took a huge step, he has become a pillar on our back end.”
Traptow adds “We are all very excited for him and wish him the best of luck in representing Team Canada West.”
Lacoste cant wait for his chance saying “Having the opportunity to go to Team Canada West is an honour for me and I am very excited to go and show the team staff what I am capable of. It is going to be a great experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.”
