The Wolverines will move on to round 2 of the Alberta Junior Hockey League North Division Play Offs after sweeping the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in three games. The Wolverines won the first game by only a 1 goal margin but seemed to turn up the heat in games 2 and 3 as the scores were 5-1 and 7-1 respectively. Coach Joey Bouchard comments on the teams performance in round 1. “I thought we built a bit of momentum and seemed to get better and better, that's a good sign as we're headed into the second round of play offs.”
The Wolverines will now have to focus on the task at hand as they'll meet the Lloydminster Bobcats for a seven game series. The Wolverines and Bobcats were in a tight race to the 2nd place finish in the regular season. Both clubs had 90 points and 35 regulation time wins which made the decision go to a tiebreaker of head to head wins. The Wolverines took four of the six games between the two clubs which gave them the advantage and the 2nd place finish in the North.
