Wolverines stay tight with North Division, Beat G.P.

 

Game Recap:

The Wolverines kicked off February with a 6-3 win over the Grande Prairie Storm on Thursday night.

Stephen Doane opened the scoring 4:28 into the first period, when he banged his own rebound behind Wolverine goaltender Mac Engle.

The Wolverines would answer at 7:33 as Joel Kocur redirected a point shot from Matthew Abt to tie the game at 1-1 after one.

The Wolverines would dominate the second period and finally get rewarded as Joel Herbert slipped a shot behind Nick Kulmanovsky at 10:03 to give the Wolverines a 2-1 lead.

Grande Prairie would answer on the power play as Sasha Larocque snapped a shot behind Engle at 19:17 to tie the game at 2-2 after two.

Matthew Abt had a point shot deflect off two skates before it went in to give the Wolverines back the lead 6:04 into the third period.

Sasha Larocque would score his second of the night 13:55 into the period on a shot that hit the back bar on Engle to tie the game at 3-3.

2:16 after that Matthew Abt would get his second of the period to give the Wolverines a 4-3 lead.

The Wolverines would capitalize on a late power play as Ryan Berlin would score on the rebound to give them a 5-3 lead at 19:23.

Joel Herbert would cap off the scoring into an empty net at 19:49, to make the final 6-3 Wolverines.

The Wolverines are now 23-26-3 and are three points back of the fourth place Sherwood Park Crusaders.
