Wolverines make Third AJHL Finals Appearance

For the 3rd time in franchise history and 2nd time in 3 seasons, the Whitecourt Wolverines are headed to an AJHL Finals.

The Wolverines first appearance was in 2016-17, falling to Cale Makar and the Brooks Bandits and again in 2023-24 losing out to the Calgary Canucks.

This post-season, the Wolverines defeated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in 5 games in the first round of the North Division playoffs and were taken to 3 overtimes including in game 7 vs the Grande Prairie Storm in the North Division Final in order to advance.

The Wolverines will take on the Canmore Eagles for the 2nd time in the post-season, the previous meeting went to 7 games with the Wolverines ultimately winning game 7, 3-1. Captain, Jalen Bianchet, is the only remaining Wolverine from that series.

The Eagles defeated the Calgary Canucks in 6 games in the first round and swept the Drumheller Dragons in 4 games of the South Final despite being brought to overtime twice.

Both the Wolverines and Eagles have never won an AJHL Championship and that means there will be a new champion in the AJHL for the first time since the Brooks Bandits won their first title in 2012/13.

The battle for the Interpipeline Cup starts Friday April 17th @ JDA Place in Whitecourt. Tickets are available here: Events
