Wolverines Make a Trade Prior to Main Camp

Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines have acquired 1997-born forward Andrew Thompson and the CJHL rights to 1998-born forward Drew Warkentine from the Humboldt Broncos (SJHL) in exchange for 1996-born goaltender Garrett Mason.

Thompson, a product of Lethbridge, Alberta, is entering his second season of junior hockey.   He spent the 2015-2016 season with the Humboldt Broncos where he appeared in 53 games scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists to go along with 45 penalty minutes.  Prior to joining the Broncos, the 6’3 190lb forward played two years in the Alberta Midget Hockey League with the AAA Lethbridge Hurricanes.

The Wolverines also picked up the playing rights to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan native Drew Warkentine in the trade.  He spent last year in his hometown playing with the Prince Albert Raiders (WHL).  In 53 games he had 3 goals, 2 assists and 51 penalty minutes.  He is expected to return to the Raiders this year.
