Wolverines in the Community October.2019

Booster Juice Street Hockey Day
Thank you to all the families in Whitecourt who invited us to your neighbourhoods for the 5th Annual Booster Juice – Whitecourt Street Hockey Day, over 100 players joined in all the fun! There were nets set up in driveways and on the streets, neighbourhoods of children getting together to share their love of the game with our players, roadside BBQs & hot chocolate, neighbours and friends visiting. Thank you for the hospitality you showed us. We are so lucky to get to live and play hockey in this fantastic community!

Wolverines give tickets to students age 6-11 in Whitecourt!
Whitecourt Wolverines attended Pat Hardy Elementary, Central School, St Mary’s, St Joes and Percy Baxter School to deliver six tickets to each student ages 6 to 11. Our organization wanted our youngest fans to all to have the opportunity to come and cheer on the Whitecourt Wolverines a few times throughout the year!

Hockey Fights Cancer
October 12, we hosted Hockey Fights Cancer at the Rink. Donations were collected from ribbon sales, and a prize draw was held in support of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). CCS funds research, provides service to those living with cancer, advocates on important cancer-related issues and educates and empowers people. Thank-you to our fans for your support!

Teen Center Whitecourt Pumpkin Giveaway
Whitecourt Teen Center Pumpkin Giveaway was held Thanksgiving weekend was a massive achievement, thanks to our incredible community of Whitecourt!

From the Boys and Girls Club of Whitecourt:
“We have so many people that we would like to thank who made this event such a success.

Thanks to LB Energy Services Ltd. for their gracious donation of the pumpkins. We hit a new record this year and needed four and a half bins of pumpkins donated!
Thanks to SECURE Energy Services Inc. for their generous donation of staff, supplies, and the BBQ for us to earn additional contributions through the ‘BBQ by donation’ they set up for us!
Thank you to the Whitecourt Wolverines for providing some hockey players to assist with our donations and volunteering their time to this cause!
Thanks to Melissa Baker Photography for snapping some great pictures for us to capture this day!
Thanks to Whitecourt IGA for hosting us, setting up the tents, and making a commitment to contribute $300 to our Teen Centre over the remainder of the 2019 year for us to purchase food supplies for our cooking and baking program on Wednesday nights!
A massive thank you to List it with Lexi & Lindsay – REMAX advantage Whitecourt for organizing this event and ensuring it was a success!
And of course, a big thank you to each and every person who donated a food item or cash. Every item and every dollar donated makes a difference in the lives of our youth, and we are forever grateful that our community understands our needs and supports this cause.
Overall, our Teen Centre raised NINE full grocery carts of food products and $557.55 in cash donations. This will be enough food and funds to provide non-perishable food items for the Teen Centre for the rest of 2019 and ALL of 2020. We are so overwhelmed by the ongoing support of our community; we could not do this without your sponsorship!”

Eight members of your Whitecourt Wolverines attended this year’s Breakfast with the Guys (BWTG) hosted by Whitecourt Family Violence Initiative at the Travelodge Conference Center and Suites Whitecourt on October 9, 2019. BWTG is an event to keep the conversation going around what men can do to help end gender/domestic-based violence over breakfast.
