Wolverines Fall to Bandits

Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines (31-17-6) dropped a tight checking 2-0 affair to the Brooks Bandits (41-12-1) on Saturday night.

The game was deadlocked 0-0 through 40 minutes of play as both goaltenders stood tall in their creases, Xavier Potvin for the Wolverines and Mitchel Benson of the Bandits.

The third period saw the Wolverines seemingly take control of the game but following an icing called the Bandits called a perfect play off a faceoff as Brandon Scanlin took the puck down the left-wing wall and fired a perfect centering pass to his defence partner Dennis Cesana for the game's opening goal.  The Wolverines had several glorious opportunities to tie the game up late but could not solve Benson before Nathan Plessis would seal the Bandits win with an empty-net goal in the final seconds

The Wolverines continue their homestand on Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. as they welcome the Grande Prairie Storm (24-26-3) to town.
