Brooks, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines (29-15-5) dropped an 8-3 decision to the Brooks Bandits (37-11-1) on Saturday night.
The Bandits held a 2-0 lead at the first intermission thanks to power play goals from Nic Hamre and Matt Cassidy in the opening frame.
The Bandits added to their lead early in the second period as Jakob LaPointe put home a backdoor pass from Dennis Cesana. The Wolverines answered back quickly as Spencer Bast bounced a shot in off Bandit goalie Mitch Benson. The Bandits had an answer of their own scoring two goals 19 seconds apart from P.A. Martineau and Will Garin. Before the period was out, the Bandits added one more goal from Conner Jean on a power play.
The third period saw the teams trade a pair of goals each, Luke Bast and Louis Jamernik for the Bandits and Spencer Bast and Hayden Clayton for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines are back in action Sunday afternoon as they pay a visit to the Okotoks Oilers (41-6-2) at 4 p.m.
