Captain Adam Sandstrom has received a scholarship to attend the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology who play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. From Red Deer, Adam, had many different options where to continue his hockey career and focus on academics, he had also signed a WHL player agreement at age 16. Adam has had a breakthrough year compiling 26 points in 45 games, while leading the team in powerplay goals and penalty minutes. Adam was acquired mid season last year from the Bonnyville Pontiacs and quickly made an impact receiving the Wolverines top Defenceman Award. Adam and his leadership have been an integral part of the Wolverines resurgence this year where they have already surpassed last seasons point total by 12 points and still have 12 games remaining to build on that total.
?I cannot say enough about what Adam has meant to our program; he has developed as a player for sure but his leadership skills have come a long way in a short time? stated Head Coach Shawn Martin. ?He is very deserving of the opportunity to join such a strong program ran by a great coach in Tim Fragle?.
Adam had this to say about his commitment. ?This is a great opportunity to continue to play the sport I love and gain a degree in Business Administration; I am very excited to join the Nait Ooks?. I would like to thank the Whitecourt Wolverines Organization, teammates, coaches, family, friends and billet family for their support to help me achieve my goal of playing college hockey?.
On behalf of the Wolverines organization we want to congratulate Adam and his family on this achievement and thank him for his service in Whitecourt.
