Wolverines Captain Commits to NAIT Ooks

Captain Bryce Osepchuk has committed to attend the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology who play in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. They have been crowned ACAC champions 16 times in their storied history. Most recently going back-to-back in 14-15 and 15-16.

The Smoky Lake, ALTA, product Bryce, was acquired half way through his 19-year-old season from the Olds Grizzly’s and instantly became an impact player by scoring at a over a point-per-game pace, finishing his Wolverine career with 33 points in 32 games. Through Bryce’s first 77 AJHL games he compiled 13 goals, after joining the Wolverines he tallied 18 goals in just 32 games and lead Whitecourt in goals this season.

Although Bryce’s time in Whitecourt was short, he was named Captain this past season and also leaves the program within the franchises Top 10 for Point Per Game Average.

HC/GM Shawn Martin had this to say about Osepchuk’s journey in the AJHL.

“It’s interesting but we tried to recruit Bryce out of midget and unfortunately he chose to go somewhere else but I always continued to follow his development and when he came available, we jumped at the opportunity it obviously paid off in a big way.”

Martin adds “Bryce is not just a great player he is a great individual and I wish him all the best playing at NAIT.”

Bryce had this to say about to commitment: “I am very excited for the opportunity to join the Ooks next season. I would like to thank the entire Wolverines organization for making my time in Whitecourt unforgettable and helping me to achieve this goal.”

On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Bryce and his family on this achievement and thank him for his service in Whitecourt.
