Wolverines Aquire Forward and Defenseman from Surrey Eagles

Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines have acquired 1998-born forward Robert Johnson and 1997-born defenceman Ryan Markovic from the Surrey Eagles (BCHL) in exchange for future considerations.

Johnson, the Kamloops, BC product has split time in the BCHL with the Eagles and Trail Smoke Eaters.  In 84 career games he has 2 goals and 25 assists.  Prior to beginning his junior hockey career, Johnson played his midget hockey with the Pursuit of Excellence prep school in Kelowna where he was named to the All-Academic team during the 2013/2014 season.

Johnson is committed to the Air Force Academy (NCAA, Div I) for the 2018-2019 season.

Mississauga, Ontario native Markovic appeared in 15 games with the Eagles this season registering two assists.  Prior to coming out west, he played two seasons of junior hockey in Ontario with the Oakville Blades (OJHL), Mississauga Chargers (OJHL) and Brockville Braves (CCHL).  In 89 games he scored 3 goals and 13 assists.


Prior to his junior hockey career, Markovic played his minor hockey with his hometown Mississauga Rebels midget AAA team during the 2013/2014 season.

The Whitecourt Wolverines next home game is Saturday night against the Brooks Bandits, puck drop for is scheduled for 7:30pm at the Whitecourt Arena.
