Wolverines Add Pair in Transaction

The Whitecourt Wolverines Junior “A” Hockey Club are pleased to announce that they have added Nic Porterfield (01) and Jackson Bohan (01) both from the Melville Millionaires of the SJHL to the roster.

Nic from Calgary, Alberta has compiled 33 points in 38 games with the Mils over the past couple of seasons. Prior to his time in Melville Nic played U18 AAA for the Calgary Northstars where he produced 59 points in 63 games.

“We have always kept an eye on Nic from afar and when his name came up, we acquired him as we believe he will add an offensive punch to our roster,” stated Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin.

Jackson is from Cranbrook, BC and has compiled 9 points in 21 games this season. In 2018-19 he played for the Humboldt Broncos of the SJHL and had a great year scoring 29 points in 45 games leading to him being named to the SJHL All-Rookie team.

“We wanted to upgrade our back end in particular adding another proven puck moving defenceman and Jackson fits that bill,” stated Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin.

Unfortunately to add these desired pieces the Wolverines had to move Ryan Duguay (03) and Breckin Denhartog (03) back to Melville. The Wolverines also will receive future considerations as part of the transaction.

“Both these young men have been great Wolverines in their short time with the program, unfortunately we have had some key injuries this season to veteran players no longer with the club and to fill those spots we needed to add them in this transaction. The entire organization wishes them all the best in their future endeavours,” stated Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin

The Whitecourt Wolverines and fans would like to welcome both Nic and Jackson and there families to Whitecourt. Any questions can be directed to Shawn Martin Head Coach/GM at 780.893.0535.
