WHITECOURT WOLVERINES AND TOWN OF WHITECOURT PARTNER
TO COMPLETE RENOVATIONS TO THE SCOTT SAFETY CENTRE
The Whitecourt Wolverines and Town of Whitecourt are proud to announce that they will be partnering to build a 3,000 square foot extension to the Scott Safety Centre.
The extension, budgeted at $650,000, will include the following components:
• A dressing room for exclusive use by the Whitecourt Wolverines Junior A Hockey Team;
• Reception Area;
• Offices;
• Washrooms/Showers;
• Laundry Room.
“I’ve said it before, but in order to have a successful junior hockey program in a rural community such as ours, it is important to have these strong partnerships between the team and community,” stated Whitecourt Wolverine owner Brent Stark. “Our Club has needed dedicated space to call our own since day one; and the new dressing rooms and additional offices and other amenities will help us meet our long and short term goals as an organization. The enhancements to the facility will showcase our community not only to AJHL fans, but to all facility users who happen to cross through the Scott Safety Centre doors.”
Having an exclusive area for the Junior A team further cements the presence of the Wolverines in our region, and will allow for other community groups to make use of the space currently allocated to the Whitecourt Wolverines.
“I’m thrilled to be announcing this partnership and moving forward with the facility enhancements. For some time, we’ve acknowledged that the Whitecourt Wolverines are the only AJHL team without exclusive and dedicated dressing room space, and this partnership will provide our Whitecourt team that benefit,” remarked Whitecourt Mayor Maryann Chichak. “This really is a win-win for the Town, Whitecourt Wolverines and other facility user groups. Building this extension for the Wolverines will free up space at the Scott Safety Centre for other user groups, and allow for better flow of events at the facility.”
