Troy Ryan takes leave from Wolverines

Long time staple and head athletic trainer for the Wolverines Troy Ryan will be taking a step back this season.

Troy has been an integral part of the Wolverines since their inception and has only ever missed 2 games in over 10 years since joining the club.

Wolverines HC/GM Shawn Martin had this to say about Troy’s tenure.

“Troy has been a foundational pillar for this program since the team was relocated to Whitecourt, many players and staff have come and gone with her and Malcolm being the constant. On a personal level I have enjoyed the past 5 years working daily with Troy and we will continue to have a friendship even if she will not be at the rink everyday. I wish Troy all the best during her leave.”

Troy touched many lives during her time with the Wolverines including several players. Former Wolverines captain Adam Sandstrom had this to say about Troy’s departure.

“Troy, Thank you for everything you have done for the Wolverines and personally for everything you’ve done for me over the years. Your hard work, sacrifice and commitment did not go unnoticed or unappreciated. You have helped so many people over the years and given so much time to the town of Whitecourt and the Wolverines. Thank you for making coming to the rink always enjoyable and always being so willing to help out to make each players time in Whitecourt a great one.”
