Traptow Stepping down and into New Role with Wolverines

Former player and current Associate Coach Bryson Traptow has stepped down from his position that he has been in the last 3 seasons with the organization to take another role in hockey closer to his home in Calgary.

Bryson will be taking an alternate role based around Skill Development and Scouting for the Wolverines moving forward.

While Bryson was here as a coach the team succeeded on the ice with a record of 106-49-16. Bryson also dedicated countless hours working with Whitecourt Minor Hockey, the Trac AA Program as well as private sessions helping to develop many youth players in the game they love.

Head Coach/GM Shawn Martin had this to say “Bryson grew a lot in his time here and has been a valuable resource for this program and a good friend to me personally. I wish him nothing but the best in this new endeavour moving forward and I am excited to see what he can bring the Wolverines in this new role.”

Bryson had this to say about the change “Returning to Whitecourt to coach the Wolverines has been an incredible experience and one I will be forever grateful for. I want to first and foremost thank Shawn for giving me the opportunity and for his mentorship, leadership, and friendship. I feel very fortunate that I was able to learn from one of the best coaches in Junior A. To all the staff members, Wyatt, Mallary, Wendy, Malcolm, Tyler, Mat, Jaedon and Troy thank you for everything you have done for me and the friendships we have created. To the players, I loved showing up to the rink and working every day together. The relationships I have built with you guys over the past 3 years and the growth I have seen on and off the ice is why I love working in this great sport. To the fans, volunteers, minor hockey players, and community of Whitecourt, you welcomed me back with open arms and made me feel a part of this great town, and you guys will always be a second home to me. Cory and Terriann, thank you for everything you do for this team and community. You two make the Wolverines organization a fantastic place to work and made my time in Whitecourt incredibly enjoyable. I am stepping away with very fond memories and a mix of emotions but can’t wait to see this organization continue to succeed for years to come.”

The Whitecourt Wolverines Junior “A” Hockey Club want to thank Bryson for his contributions to the hockey team over the last 3 seasons. Although he will not be on the frontlines anymore, he will be helping shape the Wolverines for future successes. The search has begun for a new Full-Time Assistant Coach, when a candidate has been chosen the hockey team will update the public.
