Then & Now – #15 Mathieu Guertin

Mathieu Guertin, a native of Terrebonne, Que came to Whitecourt at the start of the 2012-13 season after spending 3 years in the QMJHL playing in over 150 games and collecting 66 points.

Guertin, labelled as a face of the newest Junior A franchise last season did not disappoint.  Guertin capped off a remarkable season that included, capturing the Ernie Love Trophy which is awarded to the player who leads the league with most points, along with being named to the North Division All-Star team.

Guertin finished the season in Whitecourt with 42 Goals 53 Assists and 188 Penalty Minutes. Along the way Guertin finished with 8 Multi Goal games, four 4 Point games, eleven 3 Point games (team record) along with three Hat Tricks.

Guertin holds the Wolverines single season record for assists (53) and points (95).

At seasons end Guertin committed to the University of Ottaw, where he is still enrolled in General Studies. He is currently playing in his first season with the University of Ottawa Gee Gee’s under Coach Real Paiement, who is still the league leader in games coached in the QMJHL.

Under Paiement, Guertin has 8 Goals and 12 Points in 24 games while collecting 34 penalty minutes.
