Ryan Wallz commits to Iowa State Cyclones

Assistant Captain Ryan Wallz (00) will be continuing his hockey and academic journey joining Iowa State who competes at the ACHA Division I level in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League.

 

The Calgary, Alberta product played 121 AJHL games including 56 for the Wolverines. In those 56 games Ryan compiled 38 points, adding 6 points in 6 playoff games during the 2019-20 season, enroute to earning the teams Top Playoff Performer Award.

 


“I have known Ryan now for four years and couldn’t be prouder of this accomplishment made by him.” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin.

 

Martin adds “In my mind he is one of the more underrated players I have coached and am excited to see what he does at the next level.”

 


Ryan had this to say about his time in Whitecourt.

 

“Thank you, Whitecourt for the past 2 years. I am extremely grateful to have played for such a first-class organization and to be around so many great people from ownership, coaches and teammates.”

 

“Thanks to my billet family for giving me a home away from home and I will always cherish the memories I made during my time here and will forever be thankful of my time as a Wolverine”.
