20-year-old forward Brendan Ruskowski, will play hockey next season at Wilfred Laurier University.
The Golden Hawks finished with 18 wins and 17 losses within OUA Division of the U Sports Athletics Association last season. The Langley, BC, native had a career year after coming to the Wolverines early this past season. The 6’1 center scored 60 points in 51 games including 29 goals. Ruskowski also became the 4th player in Wolverines history and only the 2nd in playoffs to score 4 goals in a single game.
He also led the AJHL in playoff goals with 11 in the post season. The game 7 overtime hero from the Storm series will be joining Wolverine alumni Travis Verbeek in Laurier next season.
“Brendan came to us looking to create U Sports options for himself which he did and ultimately chose Laurier as a fit academically and hockey wise.” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin.
Martin also praises his work ethic “He certainly didn’t take many nights off for us and kept showing us nightly his ability to be a big game player.”
Brendan had this to say about his commitment. “I am very excited to continue my hockey and academic career at Laurier University. I would like to thank my family, teammates, coaches billets and the entire Wolverines organization for providing me with such a great place to play my final year of Junior hockey.”
