Pink at the Rink
October 5, 2018, while hosting the Olds Grizzlys we had Pink at the Rink. Donations were collected from ribbon sales, and a chuck-a-puck was held in support of the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS). CCS funds research, provides service to those living with cancer, advocates on important cancer-related issues and educates and empowers people. During the game over $300.00 was collected and sent to the Canadian Cancer Society, thank-you to our fans for your support.
Teddy Bear Toss
On October 20, 2018, during our home game versus Calgary Canucks, we asked fans to bring in a new Teddy Bear wrapped to throw when the Whitecourt Wolverines scored their first goal. Whitecourt Wolverines did not waste any time scoring the Teddy bear toss goal during the first period at 2:54 on the power play by Mackenzie Harden with assists from Ben Evanish and Jaedon Leslie. The Whitecourt Christmas Hamper is going into its 46th year of operation in the community of Whitecourt. They have begun to collect donations to make hampers for those in need in our community. Each basket consists of non-perishable goods, gift cards for perishable items, toys, a family gift, a family game and winter wear for the children. Almost 300 children were included in the Christmas hamper giving last year, which include a Teddy Bear for each child. Thank-you to all of our fans who supported this event. If you missed the game and wanted to help, we have more upcoming games in November where KalTire chuck-a-puck sales go directly to the Whitecourt Christmas Hamper, and we will also be accepting donations at the rink to help bring Christmas to everyone in our community.
Booster Juice Community Post-Game Skate
On October 21, 2018, we hosted the Drumheller Dragons for a Sunday afternoon match-up. We had a Halloween Party at the rink with candy and costume prizes. Following the game, Booster Juice presented skate with the Wolverines. All the players signed autographs and then hit the ice with the community. Thank-you to everyone who came to skate with us, approximately 50 participants that stayed to join the skate, we had a great time! We want to send an enormous Thank-you to Booster Juice Whitecourt for sponsoring these fantastic community events. The next Booster Juice post-game skate is January 27, 2019, following the conclusion of our 2:30 game against Camrose Kodiaks.
Breakfast with the Guys
Sixteen members of your Whitecourt Wolverines attended this year's Breakfast with the Guys (BWTG) hosted by Whitecourt Family Violence Initiative at the Travelodge Conference Center and Suites Whitecourt on October 24. BWTG is an event to keep the conversation going around what men can do to help end gender/domestic-based violence over breakfast.
