Macs Tournament Champion to join the Wolverines in 2019-2020

The Whitecourt Wolverines are pleased to announce that 2001-born Forward Eric Perneel has Signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) with the hockey club. The Stony Plain, Alberta product plays for the St. Albert AAA Raiders of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL) where Jack Redlick coaches him. The Raiders won the renowned Macs Midget Tournament this past January. Currently, he has 21 goals in 32 games which has him 3rd in AMHL goal scoring. Eric has played as an affiliate player with the Whitecourt Wolverines four times this season.

Head Coach Shawn Martin had this to say,
?Eric has a tremendous knack for putting the puck in the back of the net, but beyond that, he plays a 200-foot game and is very responsible.?

Eric Perneel discusses his decision to continue his hockey development in Whitecourt:
?When I was 8 years old, I played for the Wolverines spring hockey club and I remember being told that once a Wolverine always a Wolverine, so it was an easy decision when Whitecourt approached me to play with their organization. I was fortunate enough to play a few games with the team this season and the team and billets welcomed me with open arms. I look forward to being a part of the community both on and off the ice.?

The Wolverines organization want to welcome Eric and his family to the Wolverines program and wish him the most success in his future development.

Any questions can be directed to Head Coach/General Manager Shawn Martin.
