GAME RECAP

Wolverines face the Thunder in another home and home series this season as the Thunder follow closely behind in the standings in fifth place in the North Division. Thunder come into these games with games in hand and Wolverines on a four-game winning streak. Wolverines would go to the Omniplex on the fourteenth for fans first look at the trade deadline additions of Zachary Cox, Cedric Matte and Parker Fofonoff.

Wallz opens the scoring for the Wolverines in the first period, assisted by Bjorn Robinson and Will Spitzer. Drayton Valley’s Klessen would tie the game at 1 with the lone goal of the second period. Then Kadyn Chabot would give the Thunder the lead early in the third. Wolverines would get a game-tying goal at 14:58 from Tyler Mahan assisted by Sam Anderson and Eric Perneel. For the second time this season, this game would enter into overtime. At 4:46 of the overtime period Mozell from the Thunder would find a way to score, and the Thunder gets the extra point.


On January 17th, the Thunder were in Whitecourt for the second half of the home and home. After a scoreless first period, Kinash and Hopps would score two goals in two minutes at the halfway point of the second period. Zachary Cox cuts the lead in half minutes later with an assist from Bjorn Robinson and Ben Wood. At 19:27 of the third period, Kaleb Ergang ties the game in the final minute, assisted by Ryan Wallz and Adam Sandstrom, to force overtime for the second game in a row. Chabot would score at 4:38 on the power play in overtime to win for the Thunder.
Final shots in the game were 41-26 for the Wolverines.
