Whitecourt Wolverines goaltender Connor Ungar (Calgary, AB) has replaced teammate Vincent Duplessis as this week?s Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. The Wolverines duo have led the Wolverines to an eight-game win streak to enter February with Ungar recording three consecutive wins last week.
Connor Ungar, 18, posted his first two AJHL shutouts last week and was rewarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game for both. The rookie goaltender stopped all 24 shots versus the Grande Prairie Storm on January 28th in a 1-0 win. On January 31st, he would allow just one goal on 31 shots to defeat the Lloydminster Bobcats 3-1. The following night, Connor perfected his performance against that same Bobcats team to post a 1-0 shutout with a 32-save performance.
Ungar (Calgary, AB) was 6-0 through January with six consecutive wins since the New Year. With a record of 7-4-1 since joining the team in November, Ungar has compiled a 2.54GAA and .923 save percentage.
Congratulations to Connor on earning Alberta Junior Hockey League Alberta Ford Dealers Defensive Player of the week!
