AJHL’s Leading Scorer Commits to Ottawa

The Whitecourt Wolverines are very proud to announce that Mathieu Guertin has committed to the University of Ottawa Gee Gees hockey program.  The Alberta Junior Hockey League’s leading scorer recorded 95 points, including 42 goals during the 2012-13 regular season. He registered 12 points in the playoffs, helping the Wolverines advance to the North Division Final in their inaugural season. Guertin will be playing under the direction of highly respected coach Real Paiement.  Paiement coached Canada’s national junior team in 1997 and also has coaching experience in professional, college and junior hockey.

“Mathieu played a vital role in the Wolverines success this season. He consistently performed night after night and represented the Wolverines with pride. He became an offensive threat in the AJHL and also evolved as an effective two way player. He was a true class act in the community and a valuable leader that led by example on and off the ice. His work ethic, grit, and passion for the game was commendable. He poured his heart and soul into this organization and was highly respected by his teammates, coaching staff, and the community. It was an absolute pleasure to have coached an individual with his talent and competitiveness,” Wolverines General Manager/Head Coach Joey Bouchard said.

The Whitecourt Wolverines would like to congratulate Mathieu and his family on his accomplishment and wish him all the best in his future athletic and academic endeavours.
