Coming off a first-round sweep (4-0) of the Grande Prairie Storm, your Wolverines are back in action this weekend when we kick off the second round against North Division Rival, the Bonnyville Pontiacs. This is the 2nd straight year the Wolverines and Pontiacs will meet in the post season, the Wolverines last year eliminated Bonnyville in the first round in 6 games. The Pontiacs and Wolverines met six times during the regular season with Whitecourt winning the season series boasting a 4-2-0-0 record while outscoring Bonnyville 25-19.
The Wolverines were lead in the first round by the AJHL Most Outstanding Defenceman Caleb MacDonald who contributed 7 points in 4 games including the game winning goal from game 3. Colby Browne paced the Wolverines in goals with 5 in 4 games not including 2 that were waved off.
The Pontiacs needed 6 games to take down the Lloydminster Bobcats, Lloyd forced the Pontiacs into OT twice, winning once but couldn’t keep up in game 6 falling 5-2.
